PERSONAL PROPERTY
Smith & Douglas has a comprehensive understanding of the compliance process and the appropriate property tax classifications to assign to your assets in order to minimize your annual personal property tax liability. In addition to freeing your staff from the burden of preparing the annual personal property renditions, we work closely with the facilities to identify and pursue any available assessment reductions for assets that are not performing at full capacity.
APPEALS
Smith & Douglas has maintained cooperative relationships with the Appraisal Districts which allow us to work directly with Assessors to proactively pursue favorable results before proceeding to the Appraisal Review Board. We are diligent in our efforts to protest assessments we believe to contain errors, deficiencies, or overstated values. In addition, any functional issues, equitable assessment comparisons, and industry performance are reviewed to ensure that all appropriate external obsolescence reductions are properly applied. Appeals will be filed only after obtaining prior approval from our clients.
TAX BILL RETRIEVAL & PROCESSING
Smith & Douglas will contact the different Treasurers in each jurisdiction to ensure that all personal property and real estate tax bills are obtained and reviewed prior to sending to our clients for timely payment. We will review the tax bills to confirm that the appropriate assessment values and tax liabilities are applied before payments are approved. Upon request, Smith & Douglas will provide information to assist with future property tax projections and reports summarizing the property tax liabilities for all accounts.
